Today, I want to share some personal news with you. In 2017 I did a short work excursion in a huge fashion company to quickly realize that I am definitely not that kind of person that wants to work within a corporate group with super strict policies and very narrow task fields. Even if it means you have to work harder and invest a lot more time and effort, I couldn’t help myself but realize that my heart fully beats for startups. It simply makes me happy to see what a small team can achieve with a great work vibe, a lot of discipline and will-power.
Thanks to my past work experiences I quit on short notice at the end of 2017 to follow my passion and to join another startup company. Following my motto: „Do what you love and add five more days to your week“.
Do what you love and add five more days to your week
I took on a little adventure and signed a contract with a company based in Berlin. I took over the responsibility for PR and Social Media Marketing, Community Management and Influencer Relations for SCROOSER. Having to choose between moving to Berlin or be willing to start the life of a commuter, I have made a clear decision in favor of the second possibility.
So I started commuting in November 2017 to be present in the headquarter three to four days a week. Safe in the knowledge that I was about to take over a challenging position in a fresh startup I also had in mind that this opportunity and job could turn into the job of my dreams…
BUT when working in a startup company there is always a certain point of uncertainty whether the company will successfully make it or fail after a while.
No risk, no reward
After four months, commuting is still super easy and helps me to calm down in some ways. I am pretty much forced to relax twice a week while riding the train, watching series on Netflix or working on my laptop. But as I said before – you have to be prepared and willing to take risks when working for such a young company…
xx & love,
Alexa
